MIAMI (CBS4) ― The CBS4 Subway Get Fit challenge contestants have lost a collective 62 pounds but one contestant, who was lagging behind a little, isn't lagging behind anymore.

Karen Jones, who was having a hard time keeping up with TJ Brooks and Joseph Grooms, had only lost four pounds in the first four weeks. But now in the fifth week there's been a breakthrough. This week, Karen lost six and a half pounds. At 260 and half pounds, Karen has lost a total of ten and a half pounds.

Karen told CBS4's Cynthia Demos she feels great.

"I wanted to bring numbers to challenge these guys and now I'm on my way," she said. Karen said she finally got a handle on her eating. "I have a lot more protein and veggies."

She's losing inches too. The contestants are measured every week in 11 places; neck, shoulder, arms, ribs, bust, waist, mid-section, hip, thighs, inner-knee, calf, and ankle. Karen has lost 37.5 inches.

Joseph has lost 49 inches and TJ has lost 54 inches.

Joseph and TJ lost pounds as well this week.

TJ lost another seven and a half pounds this week. At 363 pounds, he's lost a total of 32 pounds.

Joseph dropped another eight and a half pounds. At 459 pounds, Brooks has lost a total of 19 pounds.

Dr. Rashmi Murthy with Physician's Weight Loss Center says the contest is about more than inches and weight. It's a third exercise, a third nutrition and a third mental stress. Dr. Murthy says Karen was falling short in the nutritional and mental stress areas.

"I think she's been working on that, feeling more comfortable now," explained Dr. Murthy.

The contestants have less than two months to go.

We'll have updates on the Get Fit Challenge every Wednesday and the finalists are also blogging online at CBS4.COM/GETFIT.
