Heat's Wright Makes Sick Boys Dream Come True
MIAMI SPRINGS (CBS4) ―
A 9-year-old boy with a terminal cancer received the surprise of a lifetime Tuesday. Marlon Bustos had no idea the party at Springview Elementary School in Miami Springs was all for him. The Miami Heat dancers, mascot and emcee joined Heat guard Dorell Wright to make Marlon's wish come true.
"Pretty good," said Marlon Bustos when asked about the event. Although he had little to say, the young man's ear to ear smile told it all.
Bustos had a front row seat as the dancers and the mascot Bernie played it up for him. Wright brought Marlon a basketball autographed by the entire team and a specialized Heat jersey with Bustos' name written on the back.
"I'm just happy you know Marlon had a good time he had a big smile on his face," said Wright. "You know that was the main goal, you know, come here lift his spirits up and just show him a lot of love."
Bustos' mother said she had to choke back tears watching her son light up from all of the excitement.
"It's really exciting for him to have this experience, he's never gonna forget it," said Jasvelyn Bustos. "He's been through a lot and it's really good for him to have a very good and positive experience rather than all the other experiences he's gone through."
Bustos has been though a lot in the last four years including an aggressive chemotherapy treatment for Choroid Plexus Carcinoma, a rare cancer that affects the brain.
"He's beat all the odds," said Jasvelyn Bustos. "Thank God and we're aiming to be one of the first survivors with this tumor."
