Miami Heat superstar Dwayne Wade will make the switch from Converse to Nike's Jumpman label, aka the Jordan Brand. Wade still had three years on his deal with Converse that had him as the centerpiece of an attempted rebirth of the company. Last season, Wade was rarely seen wearing his newest signature shoe, the Wade 4.
"I'm thrilled to have Dwyane Wade join the Team Jordan family," Michael Jordan said. The Jordan Brand is a 12-year-ol division of Nike. Converse is also owned by Nike.
Wade told the Associated Press he wanted the move because he was concerned Converse didn't know what to do with him and he was worried about the brand's long-term viability in the basketball market.
Terms of the deal have not been released, but it's a notable addition to Wade's endorsements which include T-Mobile and Gatorade. Wade wore a pair of blue Converse sneakers at Zo's Summer Groove basketball game last Sunday, which will likely be his last appearance in a pair of Converse shoes.
