Dwyane Wade has made it clear that he wants the talent surrounding him to improve enough to compete for an NBA Championship before he makes a long-term commitment to the team. Wade is turning to a familiar face that helped him through his rookie season with the Heat, Lamar Odom.
The Heat traded Odom to the Los Angeles Lakers as part of the deal that brought Shaquille O'Neal to Miami. But with Odom a free agent, the team has offered him a contract that is believed to be a five year deal worth $35 million.
The Lakers pulled their contract offer to Odom off the table this week, but that doesn't mean the two parties couldn't still agree to terms on a new offer.
Odom is 29-years-old and was a central figure in the Lakers NBA Championship team for the 2008-2009 season. The ten-year veteran has averaged 15.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per game and would likely push for starting time with the Heat.
