Report: Heat Rookie Guard Suspended

RYE BROOK, NY (CBS4) ―

Former Kansas players Darrell Arthur and Heat second round pick Mario Chalmers will be suspended for the start of the upcoming NBA season after violating program rules at the NBA's Rookie Transition Program Wednesday morning in Rye Brook, NY.

A source told ESPN.com that both players were fined $20,000 each after the two were caught with marijuana in their hotel room.  Another report has Chalmers expelled for having a woman in the hotel room utilized during the program.

" We were made aware by the NBA that they have sent him home for violating the program rules. We are investigating it and will have no further comment at this time", the Heat said in a statement.

Chalmers was expected to be the Heat's starting point guard when the season opens.
