A group of South Floridians headed to Gold's gym in Miami Lakes Wednesday afternoon, not to work out with weights, but to dance their tales off for the Miami Heat. They moved to the music to make the basketball team's dance squad called the Golden Oldies.
"What's it like to watch your mom," asked CBS4's Jorge Estevez to a daughter watching her mother tryout for the team.
"I think this is very exciting," said Sandra St. Amand who was glad to see her mother working out.
"Growing up, when we were little, our parents came to support us. Now, I am supporting my mom," said St. Amand.
"She is here for me," said Laura St Amand about her daughter who stayed throughout the tryouts.
The Golden Oldies dance team tryouts brought out more than two dozen people over the age of 60. It's the team's 6th season for the seniors dance squad. During the auditions, there was plenty of bumping and grinding; and the moves were tough. The dancers learned a dance and performed it for the judges who deliberated for a few minutes before making their decision which did not include Laura St Amand.
"She did a great, great, great job and next year we'll try a little harder," said Sandra St. Amand about her mother. "I'll go get em next year," said Laura St Amand.
You can catch the dancers at select Miami Heat home games this season.
