Meet the first of the CBS4 South Florida finalists competing in our Valentine's Day "Love Stories" contest. Our first couple met the other while in their seventies and the best is yet to come.
He is a widower and she a widow. They have known one another for sixteen years. Mike Foster and Elaine Glazer are among the finalists in CBS4 Valentine's Day "Love Stories".
At the Brunswick Margate Lanes in Broward, Elaine and Mike take their comfort in stride. They're quite content with having met the other.
"It was like being 16 again, and having some guy call asking you out," she remembered.
Elaine and Mike are in their eighties and hit it off after meeting at their condo pool. It's true to believe that love does happen on first sightings.
Mike is the kind who will honor Elaine whenever he can make a reference about her, "She is terrific all the time," and vice versa.
"When he is good, he is marvelous," Elaine countered.
They make a good bowling team.
There may have been some kind of destiny in their meeting. They did so after their spouses died. "It's really tough being alone," Elaine said. Mike mentioned, "I used to play cards with her late husband."
They sent their 'Love Story' to CBS4 in the hopes others could share their relationship, understand their needs, tender loving care and human warmth and compassion.
"I kiss her at night before we go to sleep and I kiss her in the morning," Mike said. What Elaine does in response is to always make sure she holds his hand.
Regardless of any "age complications", this couple's best is still to come.
