Memorial Day: What's Closed & Special Services

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Monday is Memorial Day – Observed.

Federal, state, county and municipal offices will be closed.
Post offices, public schools and county libraries will be closed.
Banks and stock markets will be closed.
Garbage: Regular pickup schedule.

Malls and supermarkets will be open.

Tri-Rail will operate on Sunday/holiday schedules from 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
Broward County Transit will also be on a Sunday schedule with service available from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Broward County regional parks will be open 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Fern Forest and Secret Woods will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Long Key Natural Area will be open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Deerfield Island Park will be open.


Sunday
Broward

Hollywood: Pre-Memorial Day Singles Bash from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Giorgio's Grill at 606 N. Ocean Drive.

Ft. Lauderdale: Ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Sandy Ninninger Statue on the Riverwalk behind the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, 201 SW Fifth Avenue.


Monday
Broward

Coconut Creek: Memorial service at Veterans Park, 3550 Lyons Road at 10:00 a.m.

Davie: Parade on Davie Road from 39th Street to the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, 4271 SW 64th Avenue, at 10 a.m. Following the parade there will be a ceremony at the rodeo grounds at 11 a.m.

Ft. Lauderdale: Commemoration service at Lauderdale Memorial Park, 2001 SW Fourth Avenue, at 9 a.m.

Ft. Lauderdale: Drum Circle & Party at Hugh Taylor Birch State Park, 3109 E. Sunrise Boulevard, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Hallandale Beach: Ceremony and flag placement at the Hallandale Beach Cemetery, 801 NW Sixth Avenue at 10:15 a.m.

Hollywood: Mayor Peter Bober will preside over a service at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 6301 Taft Street at 11 a.m.

Lauderdale-by-the-Sea: Beach Bash at Aruba Beach Café at 1 Commercial Boulevard from 1p.m. to 6 p.m.

Pembroke Pines: Ceremony and presentation of colors at Pembroke Pines City Hall at 10100 Pines Boulevard beginning at 9 a.m.

Plantation: Ceremony at Plantation Veteran's Park, 1776 Lauderdale West Drive, beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Sunrise: Ceremony at Welleby Park, 11100 NW 44th Street, at 9:30 a.m.


Miami Dade

Hialeah: Service honors two service members from Hialeah that were killed in the line of duty. Triangle Park, at Palm Avenue and Okeechobee Road, at 10 a.m.

Key Biscayne: Service and ceremony at Village Green Park, 400 Crandon Boulevard, at 9 a.m.

Miami: Members of American Legion Post 29 distribute boxes of food to veterans and their families between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Memorial service and flag ceremony at Harvey Seeds Post 29, 6445 NE Seventh Avenue, at 12 p.m.

Miami Beach: Service and program at the War Memorial Cenotaph in front of the Miami Beach Police Station, 1100 Washington Avenue at 10 a.m.

North Miami Beach: Remembrance ceremony at All Wars Memorial Park, 16500 NE 16th Avenue, at 10 a.m.

Miami-Dade Parks Golf Division: Veterans and active duty military personnel can golf for free after 10 a.m. on May 26-30 at four county courses. Advance reservations are required. The participating golf courses are:
