Mother Is "Extremely Proud" Of Daughter
Semi-Finalist #4 In CBS4 "Love Your Mom" Contest

CBS4's Jade Alexander introduces us to our fourth
CBS4 Mother's Day contest semi-finalist.
Preparing to be a first-time mom is stressful enough. But welcoming a 'preemie' into the world can make any new mom a nervous wreck. Our final semi-finalist is a young mom, and her mom is incredibly proud of her daughter.
"I came home from work on a Thursday afternoon and was having contractions and my husband rushed me to the hospital," said Amanda Montalvo.
Isabella was born at 28 weeks and entered the world at 2 pounds, 6 ounces on January 18th.
"There was a 20% chance that she wouldn't make it. But she pulled through," said Montalvo.
Not exactly what Amanda was expecting with her first child. But she and her husband spent 75 days in the hospital right by their daughter's side with Amanda keeping her own mom calm along the way.
"I was just so extremely proud of her and she stepped right in from day one and just took over, never left that baby's side and she was more reassuring to me," said Amanda's mom, Becky Long, who entered her daughter in the contest.
CBS4's Jade Alexander says Isabella has decided that she's put her mother through a lot in her short three-month life and has joined forces with her grandmother to submit their
CBS Mother's Day entry for this new mom who really needs to get away.
"She needs to get away by herself and feel good about herself again because she deserves it. She's a wonderful person. She's been here every day with Isabella," said Long.
Amanda confesses that she would love some time to herself but only for a day. She's a mother now, after all and she knows what her priorities are. And the main priority is Isabella.
