As part of CBS4's series on some very special children hoping to be adopted - anchor Erika Von Tiehl would like you to meet Milagros from the Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery.
It's not every South Florida girl that dreams of throwing a baseball around with one of the Florida Marlins, but 14-year-old Milagros is not your average girl.
During the recent
CBS4 Weather Day at Dolphins Stadium, Milagros hung out with
CBS4's Erika von Tiehl, met one of her favorite Marlins' players and got to see a game.
Milagros told von Tiehl that one of her foster parents got her interested in the game.
"We watched games and he played catch with me," she said.
So what is it about the game that Milagros enjoys so much?
"Its fun, it's enthusiastic, I like all the excitement," she said.
Milagros also had fun meeting Marlins' third baseman Emilio Bonifacio who not only gave her some pointers on how to throw a baseball, but also signed one for her as well.
Milagros was quick to point out that her interests are not just on the field, she also loves to read.
"The first time I read "Twilight," I read it 6 times," she said proudly.
She's hoping that a family will adopt her; a family that loves baseball, movies and her.
"Parents that would treat me like a family, would care for me and treat me nicely," she said.
And maybe even take her to a Marlins game or two.
Parents in Miami Dade interested in adopting Milagros or any other child from The Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery, can call The Children's Trust Helpline at 211 where specially trained Switchboard of Miami counselors are standing by, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English, Spanish and Creole.
