Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery - Yidareus

MIAMI (CBS4) ― As part of CBS4's series on some very special children hoping to be adopted - Shannon Hori would like you to meet 11-year-old Yidareus who is in our Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery.

Yidareus has big dreams of being a professional athlete.

Recently, the Florida Marlins gave him the VIP treatment on trip to the stadium. Yidareus spent the day checking out the dugout, tasting the team's gatorade, and even getting his picture taking with Alfredo Amezaga.

"Nice meeting you my man," said Amezaga. "You too," said Yidareus.

This is what Yidareus would like you to know about him.

He's an 11 year old boy who lives in Ms. Lisa's house - and he's a nice boy. "He treats people like he wants to be treated."

Yidareus is a little shy; he's been through a lot living in various foster homes. In the last few years, he has lived in four or five homes where they were treated him like he was their own son. And, he said, that made him feel special.

He says he also felt very special when he spent time with the Marlins and got a chance to talk with outfielder Luis Gonzalez.

"What does it feel like to be a baseball player," asked Yidareus.
"It's pretty cool. I get to meet interesting people like yourself, fans," said Gonzalez.

"What do you do when you're not playing baseball," Yidareus wanted to know. "Well, in the off season, I like to travel," said Gonzalez.

And after that talk, Yidareus' first with a real baseball player, that's when we saw his smile start to creep out.

"That was cool. He was a nice guy," said Yidareus.

And that smile stayed there for the entire game.

As Yidareus said, he's a nice boy who deserves a nice family and many reasons to smile.

Parents in Miami Dade interested in adopting Yidareus or any other child from The Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery are asked to call The Children's Trust Helpline at 211 where specially trained Switchboard of Miami counselors are standing by, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English, Spanish and Creole. In Broward, call (305) 631-4211.
