Children's Trust - Salvador, Brad And Chad

Salvador, Brad & Chad Are Looking For Loving Parents

Just Dial 211 On Your Phone To Contact The Children's Trust Hotline

DAVIE (CBS4) ― As part of CBS4's series on some very special children hoping to be adopted - Shannon Hori would like you to meet Salvador, Brad & Chad from our Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery.

Salvador, 11, Brad, 13, and Brad's fraternal twin Chad all love football.

On a recent trip to Davie, which Chad couldn't attend, Salvador and Brad got a real thrill - a chance to visit with the Miami Dolphins.

Salvador and Brad met cornerback Michael Lehan, who gave them a tour of the Dolphins' training facility. They saw the team meeting room and the equipment room, where the two boys got to try on helmets. Lehan even gave them gloves from the equipment room.

"Those will make you catch every single ball," he told the brothers.

Then the three went to the practice field, and Lehan tossed the football with Salvador and Brad.

Lehan says knows what these two boys are going through.

"I was a foster kid myself," he explained.

And the boys paid attention to what he had to tell them.

"Don't think it's anything you've done along the way that's put you in the situation," he said. "Because you've had to deal with some unfortunate things, it's better prepared you for the future."

Salvador and Brad will remember their day with the Dolphins, not only for the fun they had but for the wise advice they received from Lehan, a true football hero. He helped them understand that being in foster care now doesn't mean that they can't have dreams and plans for the future.

Those dreams include the hope that they'll find a family that will, in Salvador's words "love us and treat us how we want to be treated." Brad added, "See us for who we are, not what we've gone through."

Parents in Miami Dade interested in adopting Marvin and Tevin or any other child from The Children's Trust Miami Heart Gallery can call The Children's Trust Helpline at 211 where specially trained Switchboard of Miami counselors are standing by, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, in English, Spanish and Creole.
