Broward's New Hurricane Ready Decal Program

Helps Residents Identify Businesses That Will Be Open After A Hurricane

(CBS4) Broward County, in partnership with municipalities' building departments, has developed a new decal program to assist residents in identifying stores that have their own power source, and are likely to be open for business after a hurricane has passed.

By displaying the blue and white Hurricane Ready decal, businesses let Broward County residents know that "This Facility Is Hurricane Ready with Generator Power." Barring any severe structural damage, stores with the decal are prepared to stay in operation even if the power is out.

The "Hurricane Ready" program will be administered by each of the 31 municipalities in Broward County

A separate decal program for gas stations is being developed by the state of Florida but is not part of Broward County's Hurricane Ready decal program.

For more information, contact Broward County Building Code Services Division, visit www.broward.org/hurricane or your city building department.
