Sink Prepares Senior Citizens For Hurricane Season

TALLAHASSEE (CBS4) ― With hurricane season fast approaching, Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink is taking action to aid AARP in promoting a new program that urges Floridians to help senior citizens and other neighbors make preparations.

Sink, also a Democratic candidate for governor, hosted a news conference Tuesday to launch the retiree organization's Operation Hurricane Prepare.

AARP state director Lori Parham said people can get involved individually, through group activities and by connecting with other volunteers.
At the same time, Gov. Charlie Crist, a Republican candidate for U.S. senator, is also focusing on seniors. He held one of his Tallahassee Tuesday meetings with a group of seniors to discuss such issues as prescription drugs, health insurance, and safety.
