Tropical Storm Ida is just below hurricane strength with maximum sustained winds of 70 miles per hour. Ida has gained strength throughout the day on Saturday after reemerging in the Gulf of Mexico late last night. Ida is expected to begin a north-northwestward track towards the Yucatan Peninsula and the U.S. Gulf Coast. The storm regained tropical storm status overnight and has prompted hurricane watches and tropical storm warnings for parts of the Yucatan Peninsula, Grand Cayman Island and parts of Cuba.
