The second tropical depression of the 2009 hurricane season has formed in the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean, but as it continues to move westward, there has been little change in intensity.
The National Hurricane Center reports at 11:00 p.m., the center of the depression was located near latitude 14.8 North, longitude 31.5 west or about 475 miles west of the southernmost Cape Verde Islands.
The depression is moving toward the west near 13 mph and this motion is expected to continue for the next two days or so.
The system's maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph with some higher gusts. Forecasters expect some strengthening and it could become the first Tropical Storm of the season within a day or two. If it does become a storm, it'll be named Ana.
