I-Team: Security & Safety At Coral Gables High

CORAL GABLES (CBS4) ― Parents concerned about the safety of their children at Coral Gables High, after a student was stabbed to death Monday morning, should know that the school rates about average in the county when it comes to incidents of violence.

A CBS4 I-Team check of incidents posted on the Florida Department of Education website and with the Miami-Dade Schools police department found that in 2006-2007 there were five reports of battery, five assaults and two weapons were recovered.

The following year, records show there were 16 recorded batteries but only two assaults; one weapon was recovered.
