Parents concerned about the safety of their children at Coral Gables High, after a student was stabbed to death Monday morning, should know that the school rates about average in the county when it comes to incidents of violence.
A CBS4 I-Team check of incidents posted on the Florida Department of Education website and with the Miami-Dade Schools police department found that in 2006-2007 there were five reports of battery, five assaults and two weapons were recovered.
Of the 49 public high schools in Miami-Dade County, Coral Gables High ranked 22nd in the number of violent incidents last year; the school at 113 recorded incidents.
