I-Team: United Way Admits To Security Breach

MIAMI (CBS4 I-TEAM) ― The FBI is investigating a computer system security breach at the United Way of Miami-Dade, according to a letter obtained by the CBS4 I-Team.

The United Way confirmed that a hacker had gained access to its computer system and deleted files and applications early Christmas morning. While the organization said its system does contain sensitive, personal and confidential information, it has not been able to determine conclusively whether the hacker was able to view any of that information.

United Way officials told the I-Team that no bank information is saved onto the system, but that credit card information is.

Anyone that donated to the United Way in the past is urged to check their financial statements for suspicious activity.
