MIAMI BEACH (CBS4) ―
One of the newest email magazines in the market is designed specifically for men. Urbandaddy is a stylishly designed insider's guide to the hottest places and events in and around town.
Founder Lance Broumand is a former lawyer who started the website back in 2005 in New York City.
"I was looking for a source that could navigate the city, really the best of the city," said Broumand. "There was nothing that connected you to the city in an exceptional way; that's what Urbandaddy does
So why create a chic travel guide type aimed at men?
"Men are really an underserved demographic," he said. "It's something we dedicated ourselves to, mainly because I'm a guy, and the peers that I created it with wanted to create something for ourselves."
The website took off and soon there was Urbandaddy L.A., San Francisco, Chicago, Law Vegas, and now Miami.
CBS4's Lisa Petrillo caught up with Broumand at South Beach's trendy Shore Club.
"There's so much electricity here," said Broumand. "So much in the way of nightlife and restaurants and culture and being a part of that and finding the exceptional elements of the place- that's what Urbandaddy is about down here."
Sara Liss is the Miami editor of Urbandaddy. She makes it her job to find the hottest restaurants, bars, shops and happenings.
"We really want to make sure our readers are spending the time --reading our articles--and that we're sending them to the right places, and that they'll have a good time and they take advantage of the city," said Liss.
Urbandaddy Miami has it all, from the latest fashion finds at the all new Big Drop at the Gansevoort Resorta stylish NYC boutique for the modern Miami man--to the super cool Coral Bar at The Tides, a perfect spot to take a date after dinner.
Sam Baum clicks on Urbandaddy daily on his iPhone.
"I think Urbandaddy has a good eclectic mix of things that are opening-- towards a sophisticated guy whose still young- it's not just -- museums which are sometimes fun- or not just clubs which are sometimes immature-- it's a good spattering of everything," said Baum.
Urbandaddy is an invitation only website, but you can request an invite online.
