NEW YORK (CBS4) ― As senators John McCain and Barack Obama ready for the final battle for the Oval Office maybe they should just leave all the vote getting to their wives.

Every presidential election year, Family Circle magazine asks the wives of the candidates to submit a cookie recipe. Readers then vote on the best one. Those who voted have successfully predicted who would be the next First Lady in the last four presidential elections.

This year Cindy McCain submitted the recipe for her Oatmeal Butterscotch cookies which she said are an absolute must for any McCain family gatherings. Michelle Obama has submitted a recipe for shortbread cookies with zest of lemon and orange – along with a kick of almond liqueur. She says the recipe from her daughter's godmother.
