Like-Minded Moms Get Together And Play

These moms were connected by a new online service started by a local mother. Playgroupconnect.com helps link like-minded moms.

South Florida moms listen up! You no longer have to feel like you are all alone when raising your child. A new service started by a local mom promises to hook you up with other moms going through the same things you are.
"It's a whole other planet once you have a baby," said Shannon Koonin, founder of
Playgroupconnect.com. The founder wants to make it easier for you to raise your child with the help of other moms.
"It is the most difficult thing to do, to find moms that you share interests with," Koonin told
CBS4's Jorge Estevez.
The website works like a dating service, except this service matches like-minded moms and their little ones with other moms and their children.
"Moms go on and fill out a mommy compatibility profile. I match them according to as many points of compatibility as possible within their area," said Koonin.
"It is important to have that friendship amongst mothers," said Michelle Fuhrman, who first found making mom friends a challenge.
"I am not from here. I didn't have a lot of mom friends at first when she was born. You get to hang out with moms that maybe differ in their ideas of parenting and it is good to hear that too," Fuhrman said.
The hardest part, according to the site's founder, is deciding who gets more out of the site: the parents or their children.
