Broward Sheriff Al Lamberti has received a huge show of support in his efforts to continue his job as head of BSO.
The Police Benevolent Association, comprised of the rank and file of the BSO, has endorsed Lamberti in the political race to keep his seat.
Lamberti was appointed Broward Sheriff last fall after former Sheriff Ken Jenne resigned amid corruption charges. He was eventually convicted of mail fraud and filing a false tax return.
Lamberti is the only Republican running for Sheriff. There are five Democrats who want the job. They are Shahrukh Dhanji, state human relations commissioner; Scott Israel, North Bay Village police chief and former Fort Lauderdale police captain; Richard Lemack, Hollywood assistant manager and former assistant police chief; attorney and former federal prosecutor Bruce Udolf and Wiley Thompson, former chief of staff to Ken Jenne and former FBI assistant director.
The winner of the Democratic primary on August 26th will face Lamberti in the Nov. 4th election.
