Suspected Burglar Dead In Restaurant Air Duct

The Man's Body May Have Been There For 2 Days

HOLLYWOOD (CBS4) ― There's been a grisly discovery at a Hollywood sports bar. A man was found dead inside an air vent and he may have been there for as long as two days.

Many of the police officers on the scene at the All-Star Sports Club, located at 1510 State Road 7, say this is a first because the man in the air vent is suspected of being a burglar.

This bizarre scene began to unfold on Thursday when the owner of the All-Star Sports Club reported a burglary. He was suspicious after he noticed broken ceiling tiles on the floor but he was surprised because nothing in the restaurant was missing.

Then on Saturday, employees smelled a foul odor and saw blood on the floor. They called 911 and fire rescue personnel found the body of a man in an air conditioning vent.

He apparently got stuck and died.

"Breaking into a business isn't that uncommon. Having people get stuck isn't that uncommon, this is probably the first person that was actually found deceased that I can remember," said Hollywood Police spokesman Manny Marino.

Police are investigating if the victim is the burglar who broke in on Thursday. They haven't been able to identify him.

Now the medical examiner's office has the difficult task of removing the body from the air vent.
