New Laser Treatment Could Keep You Forever Young
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
It's no secret that cosmetic surgery is on the rise and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has the numbers to prove it.
Approximately 11.5 million cosmetic procedures were performed last year alone, with Liposuction coming in at number one for surgical procedures, and Boxtox at number one for non-surgical requests.
But a new option for looking younger, coming exclusively out of Fort Lauderdale, could be the next big thing in the industry. It's called the High Definition Lift and it works from the inside out.
Despite being in great shape, Tina Crago felt her face was revealing her age.
"I wanted a more youthful look because I work out every day and I wanted to have my body match my face," said Crago.
The 50-year-old credits her new youthful glow to the High Definition Lift performed by Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon Dr. Todd Sawisch of Fort Lauderdale.
"It's an endoscopic brow lift and it's also an endoscopic mid-face lift utilizing the High Definition camera and the Ultra Speed CO2 laser by Decka," said Sawisch.
Sawisch is currently the only doctor in South Florida using a laser to treat facial tissues internally. Traditional facelifts focus on overlying tissues
"We work on the facial skeleton repositioning each layer as we get closer to the skin somewhat similar to making a bed. You put your sheet on then the bedspread goes over it making sure each layer is put in its correct position," said Sawisch.
Patients in their 40's are ideal candidates for this laser technology. Benefits include a quicker recovery and longer lasting results.
"It cuts faster and there's less carbonization on the tissue. That means there's less thermal damage to the tissue. So when the tissues heal together there's less downtime and less scarring," said Sawisch.
Crago, who feels as if she were in her 20's or 30's again, believes her transformation will keep her feeling young for a very long time.
"I expect to have my face look like this until I'm 60 or 70. I'm going to look like a young babe," said Crago
Sawisch says results can last up to 15 years if patients eat right, exercise and avoid smoking.
The High Definition Lift costs about $4,500.
