A Broward woman is recovering from surgery after being attacked by an angry machete-wielding boyfriend who chopped off four of her fingers.
Jacqueline Yulfo, 42, underwent emergency surgery Tuesday night at North Broward Medical Center in Deerfield Beach, according to police reports. She was listed in critical condition.
Authorities say the attacker, 21-year-old Cristhian Ramos-Murillo, was also taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. He faces attempted murder charges once he's released, said BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion.
Police were called to the home in the 7100 block of Southwest 11th Court around 11:10 p.m. after Ramos-Murillo allegedly attached his girlfriend with a knife and a machete. She was repeatedly stabbed and was missing four fingers on her right hand, according to a police report.
Authorities aren't saying what led to the attack.
Ramos-Murillo has been arrested at least twice in Broward County on domestic violence charges filed by other women, according to county records. In both incidents, the charges were dismissed.
Since 2002, he's been convicted on several other charges, including grand theft and resisting arrest, according to state records.
