Dolphins Get By Raiders 17-15 On Late Field Goal

Fins Special Teams Coverage Unit Continues To Struggle

MIAMI GARDENS (CBS) ― The Miami Dolphins made it four straight victories on Sunday after escaping with a 17-15 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Rookie kicker Dan Carpenter kicked a field goal with :43 left to Miami the win after the Raiders had taken a 15-14 lead on Johnnie Lee Higgins' 93-yard punt return in the 4th quarter.

On the fins game-winning drive, the Dolphins converted a 4th and 5 after Chad Pennington's completion to Ted Ginn for seven yards.

The fins got on the board first and looked like they were going to run away by the woeful Raiders (2-8) after Ginn's 40 yard touchdown on a reverse.  Patrick Cobbs added a 10-yard score in the third quarter to give the Dolphins a 14-5 lead.

Earlier in the quarter, Oakland sacked Pennington for a safety.  Raiders' kicker Sebastian Janikowski made two of three field goals.

Miami now faces New England next Sunday in a big AFC East Showdown.
