Dade To Vote On Domestic Partnerships Benefits
MIAMI (CBS4) ―
The Miami-Dade County Commission is looking to extend health insurance benefits and other legal rights to the domestic partners who live with county employees, including gay couples.
Tuesday the commission is expected to vote on the proposal. Commissioner Jose "Pepe" Diaz is pushing for the plan. The law would establish a domestic partner registry for the entire county.
Cost is a major issue, and some commissioner have expressed they want to take their time to study the proposal before committing to the costs.
