UM's Shalala: "No Chance" Of Going Back To DC

CORAL GABLES (CBS4) ― University of Miami President Donna Shalala may not be headed back to Washington, DC after all. On Wednesday, CBS4 News partner The Miami Herald reported that Shalala is on the short list of new nominees for secretary of Health and Human Services.

Former Senator Tom Daschle withdrew his name from consideration because of tax troubles.

Shalala, 67, served eight years in that post during the Clinton administration before she became of the University of Miami.

At the UM basketball game Wednesday night, CBS4 Producer Bonnie Laden Hernandez asked Shalala about the reports of her moving back to Washington to possibly reclaim the post for the Obama administration.

Shalala's response was simply, "No chance."
