Stallworth Crash Tape Won't Be Made Public

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A surveillance video of a deadly crash involving Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donté Stallworth will not be released to the public.

Thursday Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy abided by the wishes of the family of Mario Reyes and ruled that the tape would not be released to the media.

Stallworth struck and killed the 59-year-old crane operator who was rushing to catch a bus after finishing his shift around 7:15 a.m. on the morning of March 14th. Stallworth told police he flashed his lights in an attempt to warn Reyes.

At the time of the accident Stallworth, who had been drinking at a bar in the Fountainebleu hotel before the accident, had a blood-alcohol level of .126, well above Florida's .08 limit.

Last month Stallworth pleaded guilty to a charge of DUI manslaughter. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail, followed by 10 years of probation and one thousand hours of community service. He was also suspended indefinitely from the NFL.
