Parents Stage Hunger Strike Outside Doral School

DORAL (CBS4) ― Drastic cuts in our state's already weak education budget has called for a desperate protest by parents in Doral Monday night.

About 20 people were holding up signs and sleeping in tents outside Ronald Reagan High School Monday night because of the ongoing budget cuts in Florida affecting their school. Two mothers are also staging a hunger strike, and have not eaten in 15 hours.

Many of these parents say they plan to attend the next budget meeting held by Miami-Dade County Public Schools on Wednesday.

City officials have set up portable bathrooms outside the school at 8600 NW 107th Avenue to make them available to protestors.
