There's a large reward being offered to find the person responsible for the death of an endangered Florida panther.
A $15,200 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the shooting death of the panther whose body was found on April 21 near the Big Cypress National Preserve in southwest Florida, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The panther is believed to have been shot about a week earlier. Among the most endangered species on the planet, the big cats once roamed by the thousands throughout the southeastern U.S. There are now just about 100 Florida panthers remaining in the world.
It is against state and federal law to harass or harm one.
Anyone with information is asked to call authorities at
(888) 404-3922.
