COCONUT CREEK (CBS4) ―
Food for the Poor, an international aid agency is making an appeal for food donations for the victims devastated by Hurricane Gustav in Haiti.
Officials at the Florida-based agency confirmed getting reports of flooding and widespread structural damage in cities and towns throughout Haiti, and say they have made contact with representatives on the island. Several deaths are being blamed on Gustav, but the number may grow.
"We had pre-positioned emergency relief supplies in preparation for a busy hurricane season but given the widespread damage, were going to need more to help storm victims rebuild," said Food For The Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma, in a press release.

http://www.FoodForThePoor.orgThe agency also had some building supplies, such as lumber, in place to help victims get their homes and other structures back up, but those supplies are becoming depleted. Donations are needed to purchase lumber, roofing materials, nails, and other building supplies for repairs to the entire southwestern portion of the island.
