Local Restaurant Wants You To Fork Over Your Vote

Customers Of The Coffee Scene Get Either A Red Or Blue Jelly Bean

Red Is For McCain, Blue Is For Obama

Results Of National Jelly Bean Vote Released Nov. 3rd
DORAL (CBS4) ― A South Florida coffee shop has joined up with other local restaurants across America in order to get you to "Fork Over Your Vote."

The Coffee Scene in Pembroke Pines is taking part in a national poll to help determine the results of the 2008 presidential election and they're using jelly beans to do it. Customers of The Coffee Scene, and other participating restaurants across the country, will receive a jelly bean with every order.

The blue jelly bean is for Barack Obama and the red is for John McCain. Customers are then asked to place the jelly bean in the jar labeled with their preferred candidate; either Obama or McCain.

Launa Carbonell from The Coffee Scene said on The Jim and Jade Show Thursday morning, "It's a great way to get the community involved. It's also teaches our kids how important it is to start voting and being well informed about who to vote for."

Launa says every customer can vote, including children.

Last week was the first week of voting. The first official tally placed McCain in the lead with 82 red jelly beans, and Obama had 66.
The votes are tallied every week and reported at www.ForkOverYourVote.com.

According to the web site, this vote has never been wrong before. In 2004, patrons accurately predicted George W. Bush would win the presidential election.

The "Fork Over Your Vote" poll continues until Nov. 2 and the winner of the Jelly Bean vote will announced Nov. 3rd, one day before the election.
