UNINCOROPORATED FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― The Broward Sheriff's Office SWAT team has left the scene of an apartment building in unincorporated Ft. Lauderdale where they thought a shooting suspect was held up Tuesday evening. They believe the suspect is on the loose and need your help finding him.

Police responded to the 1100 Block of NW 31 Avenue near the Swap Shop, after a man was shot at about 3:12 pm Tuesday. Fire rescue transported the victim to Broward General Medical Center. When police got to the scene they focused on an apartment building where they believed the man is armed and hiding.

BSO says Ricky Von Welch allegedly shot Lorenzo Jones, age 22, after they had an argument outside of Swifty's Aapartments. Jones is the suspect's girlfriend's adult son, who was visiting on break for college.

After more than two hours passed, police said they realized the suspect was not inside and dismantled their SWAT team.

Surrounding streets were closed off to traffic while police stood by for the suspect to come out.

If you know where Welch might be call Broward Crimestoppers: 954-493-TIPS.
