Robbers Strike One Too Many Times At Broward Home
UNINCORPORATED FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ―
It's a sign of the times: A South Florida homeowner decided to buy a home security camera system to feel safer, and within minutes of the
system was put in place, the homeowner and technicians were robbed.
"They must be the dumbest criminals you ever did see," said Gregory Soloman.
His security cameras captured it all. Just moments after Soloman, a friend and the camera installers, put up the high tech equipment, five men walked up and robbed them. Some of them had guns.
Even though they knew cameras were rolling, they proceeded--marking the second robbery Soloman suffers in a week.
"It's something you see on television and figure it'll never happen to you," said Soloman.
"There was an oven here," he said, while pointing to an empty space.
The robbery happened in a house he has not even moved into yet.
"I think I'm a target because my home is beautiful and people think I have money."
But this business owner is like many others--working hard, saving his money to live comfortably.
Now he's more focused on living securely. He's got shutters on the windows, a privacy fence, cameras, a security system and even a Rottweiler.
And there's one more purchase he made Friday.
"We're on our way to get weapons, guns," he said. "It's that bad."
In the images captured Soloman sees desperation, young people wanting a quick score rather than working to earn their keep.
"Economy's bad and the criminals gonna get bad," he said.
"Next time they come we'll be ready for them. I'm just saying we'll be ready. I think it's the law we can stand our ground. We gonna stand our ground."
