11 Years Of Questions In Family Slaying

MIRAMAR (CBS4) ― In a North Miami-Dade cemetery lies buried Marie Carmel Altidor, 29; Sabrina Altidor, 6 weeks old; 2-year-old Samantha Altidor; in Haiti, a grave for their mother and grandmother, Theresia Laverne, 68. Eleven years after they were murdered, police say George Altidor, the father, husband, and son-in-law to the victims, remains the only suspect.

Marie's sister, Marie Laverne, said on Wednesday, according to CBS4 Carey Codd, the family has placed its faith "in God that whomever did this will be found".

She appealed to the public, "We are asking for help, so justice can be served."

All this family has left are pictures, pictures and memories of loved ones massacred inside their own home.

There has since been a civil lawsuit filed in 1999, accusing Altidor of negligence and intentional homicide, and an outstanding lawsuit involving a $120,000 life insurance claim after the deaths of his wife and daughters.

The Miramar Police Department has been in charge of the investigation, and said it never found evidence of forced entry into the home, or that anything was stolen. On the wall someone had written, "I want my $100,000 drug money. They stole my drugs." But investigators ruled out drugs, and other motives such as Haitian politics, random violence, and revenge.

Altidor had worked for a Hialeah air conditioner company. He married for a third time and is studying in Oklahoma to become a Baptist minister.

The day before the murders, he told police that he was at the home of his current wife, fixing her air conditioning.

CBS4 tried to reach an attorney for George Altidor, but he was overseas.

Police ask anyone with information to please call Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
