Broward Man Accused Of Spilling Intimate Secrets
BROWARD (CBS4) ―
A Broward man is on trial for telling the world that his ex-girlfriend gave him genital herpes. Hance Adams is accused of mass distributing flyers that show the woman's face under the words, "disease carrier."
He's being prosecuted under an obscure law: maliciously disseminating information of a sexually transmitted disease. Even though Adams knew about the sexually transmitted disease, it wasn't a problem until the relationship ended.
Then police say Adams extracted his revenge, faxing the flyers to the woman's workplace and plastering them outside her son's middle school.
A friend of the victim, Susan Gordon, told the jury that she went to the school to retrieve the flyers.
"I found them in the fence rolled up and stuck through the holes. I was picking up every piece of paper to make sure it wasn't it," said Gordon.
Adams is also charged with counts of child abuse and 1 count of batter stalking. If convicted on all charges he could spend more than 18 years in prison.
