BSO-Broward Man Molested 7-Year-Old, Took Pictures

Multiple Child Pornography Pictures Allegedly Found On His Computer

by Joy Purdy
DEERFIELD BEACH (CBS4 News) ― A Deerfield Beach man whose computer was allegedly filled with sexually explicit photos of children as young as three years old has been charged with a host of child pornography counts, including the alleged sexual assault of a 7-year-old girl which was captured on film.

James Currie, 35, was arrested Monday after investigators were tipped off by a 14-year old girl who reported seeing a picture of a naked child on Currie's computer.

When Broward Sheriff's Office investigators used a warrant to search his home at 1440 SE 4th Court, they found on his computer picture after picture of children as young as three engaged in graphic sexual acts.

Detectives say Currie told them he understood what child pornography is, and admitted having it on his computer. The arrest report states Currie said he had saved movies and images of children from age 3 to 'under 18' years.

Investigators say at least some of the pictures appear to have been taken in Currie's bedroom, and depicted sexual acts between him and a 7-year-old girl. The arrest report states that the pictures were taken with the girl's knowledge, and that he has asked the girl to swear not to tell anyone.

Currie is charged with Sexual Battery on a minor, two counts of lewd/lascivious molestation and ten counts of Possession of child pornography, but that's not all.

Investigators say they also found a medicine bottle prescribed to someone else containing hydrocodone and oxycodone, so he's also been charged with trafficking hydrocodone and possession of oxycodone.

Detectives are continuing to look for other children who they believe may have been victimized by Currie. If you have any information, you are asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
