Wanna-Be Bus Driver Wanted For Stealing Buses

Police: Harris Also Posed As A Bus Driver

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A young man accused of having a bizarre taste for transportation is wanted for stealing not one, but two Miami-Dade transit buses. In the first case, he dressed up as a Miami-Dade Transit bus driver and collected fares as he drove passengers around South Beach.

Police say 18-year old James Harris stole the first bus from a Miami Springs bus depot on June 1st. He took passengers around South Beach then returned the bus to the depot. He was eventually arrested, charged with burglary and grand theft, to which he pleaded not guilty, and then released on bail.

Soon after, however, police say he stole a second bus.

On Sunday, July 13th, officials say, Harris donned a bus driver's uniform and took another bus from a depot located at SW 79th Avenue and Coral Way then drove to the South Dade Busway. The bus was eventually found in Florida City. The same cannot be said for Harris. He hasn't been found.
