Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman visited Miami Sunday evening to drum up support for Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain.
Lieberman, a former Democrat, is now an independent and is looking for Jewish and Cuban American votes for his friend, McCain. Speaking at the Little Havana headquarters of Bay of Pigs veterans, Lieberman talked about his importance of cohesion between the political parties.
"I'm looking to help Senator McCain become the next president of the United States," he said. "I know it's unusual for a Democrat, even an independent Democrat like me, to be supporting a Republican candidate for president, but you got to forget parties when it comes to the country. And I just feel very strongly that John McCain is by far the best prepared to lead our country."
Lieberman also told the audience that he expects Florida to play a major role in this year's election.
