1-On-1 With Joe Lieberman & Why He Supports McCain

Lieberman Is A Registered Democrat But Considers Himself An Independent Democrat

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman, who once ran for the second highest job in the country as a Democrat, is now campaigning in South Florida for Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain.

Lieberman, who is still a registered Democrat but considers himself an Independent, spent a second day in South Florida on Monday, courting the Jewish and Hispanic vote.

He began Monday at an Israeli restaurant in Hollywood, and ended up at a Shul in Surfside. On Sunday, he visited the Little Havana headquarters of Bay of Pigs veterans.

He believes when it comes to the War in Iraq and foreign policy, the Republicans and John McCain are on the right track.

"The Democratic Party today, I fear has become too partisan, not committed enough to using America's power to keep us safe in the world and has come very protectionist," Lieberman told CBS4's Ted Scouten.

Ted Scouten was on the campaign bus with Sen. Lieberman and spoke with him one-on-one.
