Florida Ethics Panel: Timoney Violated Ethics Laws

SOUTH BEACH (CBS4) ― CBS4 News has learned members of the Florida Commission on Ethics in Tallahassee found probable cause that Miami Police Chief John Timoney violated state ethics laws when he accepted free use of a Lexus SUV from a local dealership.

A CBS4 News Investigation revealed Timoney's free use of a Lexus Hybrid SUV, courtesy of Lexus of Kendall last year. He eventually bought the SUV after using it free of charge for months, but he did not report his free use beforehand, which is required by law.

A Civilian Investigative Panel in Miami has tried to investigate the case, but they say Timoney has refused on some occasions to appear before them.
