Family Suspects Foul Play In Mom's Disappearance

Fort Lauderdale Police Department: (954) 828-5700

Broward County Crime Stoppers: (954) 493-TIPS

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) ― The family of a missing Fort Lauderdale mother suspect foul play in her disappearance and now the police department is asking the public for help in finding the woman because they're concerned for her safety.

Kathy Collins, a spokesperson for the Ft. Lauderdale police, said "What makes this case different is she was so close to her family, and yet no one has heard from her."

Josephine Frenna, 51, was scheduled to go to court Friday to get a restraining order against her husband, Gerardo Di Marco. She already has an active domestic violence order against him, according to Fort Lauderdale Police.

At the courthouse, her attorney, Caryn Carvo, told CBS4 Reporter Joan Murray that she spoke to Frenna on Wednesday, "She was fine. She knew she had some things to do get our office some documents. She was obviously concerned over some safety factors."

Police were called to Frenna's home, 4020 Galt Ocean Drive in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday when her 14-year old son came home from school and his mom wasn't home.

Several of Frenna's personal items were inside of the apartment, but she was nowhere to be found. According to Josephine's family, it's not in her character to be gone for so long.

Police canvassed nearby apartments, contacted condo personnel, and followed up with family members and acquaintances of Frenna. Officers have also checked local hospitals, jails, and airlines.

Patrol officers located Frenna's former husband Gerardo Di Marco and detectives have interviewed him.

Anyone with information on Frenna is encouraged to contact the Fort Lauderdale Police Department at (954) 828-5700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
