Second Bullet Hole Was Discovered April 21

KENDALL (CBS4) ―

Someone may be trying to sabotage flights at Tamiami Executive Airport, according to a Miami-Dade Police report.

According to Miami-Dade Police, bullet holes were found in the fuselages of two aircraft at the airport. The planes were parked at the Silver Express Flight Center.

On March 20th, a bullet hole was located in the belly of an aircraft while it was being washed. Another bullet hole was discovered on April 21st in the right wing of a second aircraft.

Police say they simply don't know yet whether the planes were shot at while they were in the air or after they had already landed. Nobody was hurt.

"Well it's a serious danger for us because the planes here are not bullet proof," said student pilot, Visswa Taladi.

A bullet could be deadly if it hits the pilot flying the plane or if it punctures the fuel tank- the plane could explode.

In response to the disturbing discovery, the Miami-Dade Aviation Department told pilots to "fly steep' when departing and approaching the airport, just as a precaution.

"Basically to climb up high and to stay close to the airport," explained Robert Dean of The Dean Flight School. "As long as they are high the bullets cannot reach up there."

In addition to Miami-Dade Police, the Department of Homeland Security has also launched an investigation. The FBI is not investigating and the FAA does not investigate these types of incidents.
