Bag Of Cash Stolen In Armored Truck Heist

MIAMI GARDENS (CBS4) ― It was a tough morning on the job for a couple of Loomis Armored Car employees when they were robbed in Miami Gardens.

The armored truck heist took place at Northwest 34th Avenue and 213th Street outside the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church shortly after 10:00 a.m.

Major Antonio Brooklyn from the Miami Gardens Police Department told CBS4 News that a Loomis employee was walking out of the church with a bag of cash for a normally scheduled pick up.

As he was walking back to the truck, two armed men approached him, threatened him with their weapons, took the money bag and ran away.

No shots were ever fired and it's not known how much money was in the bag.

Police describe the first suspect as a black man, about 5'5" – 5'6' tall, about 175 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt with a white t-shirt on top of it, dark pants, a white bandana and a beanie on his head. His was also carrying a black firearm.

The second suspect is described as a heavy-set black man, about 5'7' – 6" tall, over 200 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, dark pants, and was carrying a silver revolver.

Both men got away on foot. There is no known vehicle information at this time.
