An eight-year old girl who has undergone a five organ transplant wants nothing more than to become a recording star and Monday her wish came true.
Victoria Lochman, from Royal Palm Beach, underwent a five organ transplant when she was only eight months-old and since then has had 17 other major surgeries and procedures. Doctors say the procedures should give her about 10 years. Through all the surgeries and hospital stays, Victoria mother says music was her lifeline. This wish granted means the world to her.
"I think this will give her the chance to realize that there is more to life than what she's been going through, and that she has a lot more to look forward to," said Ivette Lochman, Victoria's mom.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida fulfilled Victoria's most heartfelt wish to become a recording star, opening up Honor Roll Studios in Miami, so that Victoria could record her own CD.
"Its really exciting," said Victoria Lochman, "I always like practice in my room and I always wanted this and I got it."
In true star-style, a chauffeur-driven limousine arrived at Victoria's Palm Beach County home Monday morning and drove her to the recording studio where she laid down tracks for her own four-track CD. She was coached in-studio by Sony International recording artist Ana Cristina.
"It means a lot to me because its great to see you know," said Ana Cristina. "Kids aspire and dream and to have these ambitions to do what they want to do and to see a wish granted like this is amazing and it touches my heart so much."
After her day in the studio, Victoria's dream is not over. She will enjoy a CD release party with family and friends on June 27th at CityPlace in West Palm Beach.
"The wishes we grant to Victoria and lots of kids like her bring happiness and the memories often provide inspiration to continue fighting against the health issues that threaten their lives," said Norman Wedderburn, President & CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida.
Victoria's wish also marks a milestone for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida - it's the 7,000th wish they have granted in their 25-year history.
