Man Hurt At Metrorail Station, Service Has Resumed

MIAMI (CBS4) ― Commuters who travel on Metrorail encountered a brief delay Friday morning after a wheelchair-bound man fell off a platform and onto the tracks.

Miami Fire Rescue crews transported the man from the Santa Clara Station, located at NW 12th Avenue and 20th Street, to the hospital.

Miami Fire Rescue officials say the man, in his late 70s, was getting into position on the platform and misguided his wheelchair, which accidentally fell onto the tracks. He suffered head and pelvic injuries and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The station was temporarily shut down causing delays but the station has reopened and all trains have resumed operation.
