Woman Uses False Credit Card To Buy A Rolex Mariner Watch And A Gold Chain

Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers: 305-471-TIPS

COUNTRY WALK (CBS4) ― Miami-Dade police are searching for a woman captured on videotape who bought a Rolex watch and jewelry for more than $8,000 with a false credit card from a store in Country Walk.

A Five Star Jewelers employee told CBS4 Reporter Peter D'Oench the suspect spent about thirty minutes speaking to him over what to purchase her husband for their 20th anniversary on August 30th.

During the transaction, she presented a fictitious drivers license as identification.

Det. Rebeca Perez of  the Miami-Dade Police Department said, "She created a name, and we don't know who's name it was, or if it was someone she knew."

M
iami-Dade police released surveillance video Tuesday of the woman who went into the southwest Miami-Dade store, where she was clearly shown standing at the counter paying for the items.

Sgt. Rafael Rodriguez, Miami-Dade Police Department, added, "If it's a counterfeit card, you can tell. Sometimes the card will have that look of a card that is more faded than it should be. Or the quality is not quite there."

He had a word of caution to store owners when checking a customer's credit card, adding "Also, when you swipe the card, make sure the numbers on your screen from the magnetic stripe, and match the numbers on the front that are tied to that card. If the numbers are different, then it's fraud."

The store owner - located at SW 152nd Street and 138th Ave. - described the woman as Hispanic, between the age of 37 and 42, 5-feet, 6-inches tall, weighing about 190 pounds. She has blonde hair and brown eyes.

Among the charges the woman will face will be grand theft and fraudulent use of a credit card.

If anybody recognizes the woman in the video, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
