Miami Firefighter Hurt When Burning Roof Collapses

Firefighters Were Battling Miami House Fire

MIAMI (CBS4) ― A South Florida firefighter was injured on the job Monday while battling a blaze at a home in Miami.

Firefighters were working to douse a fire burning inside a home located at 300 Southwest 67th Court. One firefighter was hurt when the roof collapsed on top of him. He was pulled out of the burning home by two other firefighters.

The injured firefighter, with 20 years experience, was taken to a hospital for X-rays and further evaluation, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Video from Chopper 4 shows a large, gaping hole in the roof of the home. The fire did not spread to any neighboring homes.

The fire started from something left unattended on the kitchen stove, said Lt. Ignatius Carroll, a Miami Fire-Rescue spokesman. The home's occupant saw smoke when he was outside working in the yard and called 911.
