Time To Fly Before MIA Auction Ends
MIA's Public Auction Is July 26th At 9:30 A.M.
MIAMI-DADE (CBS4) ―
No luggage is ever really lost. If it doesn't find it's way to you after that frustrating plane trip, it might end up at Saturday's auction at Miami International Airport. Hundreds of unclaimed bags, plus the most amazing things people left behind at South Florida's busiest airport.
Bargain hunters will be able to preview the items up for bids one hour prior to the auction at 5600 NW 36th Street, Building 845, 3rd Floor.
Mark Henderson, an airport spokesman, said "It goes into auction where someone benefits from someone else's loss."
Items will include luggage, laptops, cell phones, digital cameras, iPods, jewelry, toys, sporting goods, and DVD players.
Most of the items up for sale were lost and never claimed. Others were left behind when passengers had to fly, and realized they couldn't afford to pay to carry them on the plane.
Auctioneer Paul May recalled one man buying a piece of Samsonite luggage. "A man bought a suitcase, and he opened it outside the building, and policeman came by. And the man said, 'You won't believe what was in the suitcase.' It was $10,000-worth of British money."
